In September 2017, I convinced 5 other students to invest in a plotter to save us couple of bucks. After figuring out the numbers, I eventually began printing other students work. By using generic ink (no one needs archival images for reviews) and printing it ourselves we were able print at almost 1/24th the cost at SARUP. Why pay to print when you can do it for free?
Amount we printed in 4 semesters:
14,400 SF Bond Paper
4,200 SF Coated Paper
2,400 SF Heavy Weight Coated
400 SF Film (clear)
300 SF Vellum
Cost to print at:
Kinkos: $106,950
SARUP-Kinkos Hybrid*: $74,550
SARUP (only bond) $29,207
Printheads (us): $19,142
Savings for students: $55,408
* While no student prints everything at Kinkos, many opt to do so for their mid and final reviews. This is what the SARUP-Kinkos Hybrid cost is based upon.
